How To Make A Wafflecheese Sandwich!

Here’s a fun sandwich that is easy to make with a little help from your mom. It’s one of our favorite playdate snacks. Marly’s mom likes to call these a “Poor Man’s Panini”

• Assemble your tools and ingredients. Bread, Butter, a Slice of Kraft Cheese and a Waffle Iron. Be sure the butter is nice and soft.
• Place cheese slice between two slices of bread. Butter the outside of the bread slices.
• Place sandwich in waffle iron (make sure you have adult help!) and smash it!
• Remove sandwich when cheese is melted and bread is toasty. Serve whole or cut into smaller squares

Francie Pants New Packaging is a Hit!

Our new packaging came out so adorable that our biggest problem seems to be keeping the boxes on the shelves! All our Francie Pants are now shipping in our custom packaging. This makes gift giving and boutique merchandising easy and fun. Each package includes a little bonus prize – a paper doll for you to play with.

Kiki here! As you know I love writing to my penpals and collecting cool paper and stationary. I’m off to Etsy once again to find inspiration. I love to make my own Valentines but it’s so much more fun and easy when I print out these cute vintage designs from Etsy Seller Candyconnection22 and cut them out as decoration for my cards. Lexi here! Ok I admit it. Total Sweet Tooth. I looooove valentines day Chocolates! And Sweethearts. Basically all candy. Which my mom doesn’t let me eat all the time. But my daddy always buys me these classic sweethearts from Necco on Valentines day. I do flips for them!

Hi! It’s me Marly. My mom is a single mom and I always like to make her something really special on Valentines day. Since I just learned how to knit I decided I would knit something for her. My teacher helped me find this project to make a felted guitar strap, on the Lion Brand yarn site. It’s just easy enough for a beginner like me and I know my mom will love it! (Note: you have to sign in for patterns but they are free!)

Help Save Handmade Stuff!

One of our favorite sites has a very important message to share with you about what you can do to save handmade children’s items like the toys, clothes, blankets and more that we love to find on Etsy. Recent legislation from the CPSIA has attempted to make it safer to shop for children’s products, by requiring all manufacturers to have certification. Unfortunately the laws are a little unclear in many cases and many feel the passage of these laws will mean the demise of handmade goods. In the interest of Nana’s knitting sweaters everywhere, take a minute to click over and educate yourself. And Save Handmade!

Hot Cola Lemonade

Jayden here. I’m home from school with a sore throat and fever. Which stinks. My mom’s letting me lay on the couch and watch tv. The one good thing about being sick is that my mom always makes me hot cola lemonade. She says it is the best thing for sore throats. I just know it is yummy! I know that there are a lot of bugs going around right now so I thought I’d share the recipe. I just hope you don’t actually need it!

1 can of cola

1 whole lemon, clean and quartered.

Pour can of cola into a small saucepan. Squeeze lemon juice into cola and then place lemon quarters into the saucepan as well. Heat over medium flame until the mixture is almost boiling. Do not let it boil. Turn off heat and let it cool for 10 minutes. Serve over crushed ice.

New Years Resolutions for Kids

Dear Friends,  can you believe it’s New Year’s Eve? We’re having a slumber party and watching movies with our BFFs. In between pillow fights and while waiting for the ball to drop we (Marly and Kiki) came up with this list of our New Years Resolutions. Have you made yours? Check out our resolutions below and tell us what you think (and leave your resolutions) in the comments. Most of all – have a Happy New Year!

1. Use reusable packaging to pack my lunch so I don’t throw away so much stuff

2. Eat more vegetables – better yet, grow some of my own!

3. Spend more time with my grandparents and interview them about their lives. 

4. Do my homework on time and keep assignments organized.

5. Learn to knit.

6. Gossip less.

7. Learn how to do a perfect cartwheel.

8. Turn off the TV and go play outside.

9. Memorize the multiplication tables

10. Help out with the laundry!

Francie Pants & Friends – Our Fave Charities for 2009

The holidays are fast upon us and we’re thinking ahead to the New Year. We’re all so fortunate, and we’d like to give back. So each of the girls has chosen a special charity for 2009 that she would like to make a contribution to.

Note: In order to keep track of their allowance, their savings and the money they’d like to give to those in needs, the Francie Girls all recommend placing your money in a Learning Cents Bank.

My favorite charity is Unicef. Unicef gives children of the world a voice, hope and the chance at a better future. I’m so proud to collect $ for Unicef every year when I go trick or treating and I will be saving my pennies all year long for Unicef.

My favorite charity is Healthy Child, Healthy World. You may not know this about me, but I have allergies and asthma. It doesn’t slow me down too much! My mom and I  have learned so much about healthy cleaning products, sustainable eco friendly building practices, and pesticide free nutrition  from Healthy Child, Healthy World. It’s made a big difference for me and that means I almost never have to miss a gymnastics meet because of my allergies. 

My choice of charity this year is Kidsave International. Kidsave helps older orphans from Eastern Europe, Asia and South America receive job training and learn new skills. They have a “summer miracles” program that helps foreign kids find forever families. They also work with local fostering organizations. Their motto is “Every Child Deserves a Family”  

Did you know my little sister was a preemie? We are very lucky that she has not had any lasting issues from this. When Kiara was born the March of Dimes was there for my family. My mom and dad are huge advocates of the March of Dimes and so am I! It’s important to give babies the best start they can possibly have.

I have such a special bond with my horse Butterscotch and my other pets too. I can’t imagine a world without my furry friends! But sometimes animals don’t have a loving human to take care of them. That’s why I am saving money this year to benefit the Humane Society.  I hope I can raise enough to help several animals find homes and get medical treatment this year!
